PEMHS is Hiring a Certified Peer Support Specialist (Mobile Crisis Response Team) Near Pinellas Park, FL

Program Summary:

Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) is a 24–hour resource for mental health and substance use crisis intervention. Our goals are to lessen crisis trauma, divert individuals from Emergency Rooms and traditional court systems, prevent unnecessary psychiatric hospitalizations and help identify a potential crisis in advance and assist with linkage to an outpatient provider.

Job Summary:

Provides non-clinical, evidence-based peer support services by performing tasks designed to assist family members and individuals with mental health and substance use diagnoses with navigating systems which provide services or otherwise are involved with the welfare of program participants. Provides education, serves as a role model, shares lived experiences, works as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Serves as a consultant to the agency for training staff on Peer Support Related roles and provides feedback on Peer Support Recovery related policies and procedures. This position works in coordination with our Mobile Crisis Response Team.

Qualifications:

  • Eligible for Florida Recovery Peer Specialist or Recovery Support Specialist Certification through the Florida Certification Board
  • Associates of Arts Degree preferred; High School Graduate or Equivalent minimum.
  • Valid Driver's License

Self identifies as a person who has direct personal experience living in recovery from mental health and/or substance use conditions. Has a desire to use their experiences to help others with their recovery. Is willing to publicly identify as a person living in recovery for the purpose of educating, role modeling, and providing hope to others about the reality of recovery and has had the proper training and experience to work in a provider role. A valid driver’s license is required as some driving and/or transportation may be required to take clients to medical appointments, job sites, social activities and other community resources.

Special Working Conditions:

Exposure to Consumers in a variety of program conditions, which may include long irregular hours, on-call duties and local travel. Exposure to a wide range of community environments outside of the agency.
